Virtually no aroma, maybe dried leaves. Clear rust, thin head. Earthy, very subtle minty mulberry note. Dried leaves in the end. Not exciting.

Fliptop 32 ounce bottle from Whole Foods, Charlottesville. Pours a hazy red with a bit of brown. Medium sized tan head. Fair head retention. Aroma of toffee malt, apple, dark fruits, toast, earthy hops. The taste is toffee malts, herbal, earthy hops and a bit of stone fruit. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, slight lingering bitterness. Solid.

2011-03-18, draught at the brewpub
Red amber color, dark; small creamy head. The aroma is mild, but a bit fruity; also, some caramel and roasted malt. Smooth mouthfeel, the body is quite round, there is some very good caramel flavor, with a light roasted malt improvement, and pleasant fruity touch. Strong bitterness, leaving some hop resins behind. Very solid brew.

Hazy and muddy coloured with a thick head. The aroma reminds me of my old homebrew - cascades, yeast and some heavy, dull malts. Moderate bitterness. Quite a bit of crystal and chocolate malts to lend toast and earth character. Bland earthy woodiness of chewy cascade. Not a terribly interesting beer and certainly not very effective.
