Take the Time to Taste This Tantalizing Tongue-Twister. Our brewmaster Keith has always wanted to brew a beer that paired well with his favorite Thai dishes. He landed on using lemongrass and basil, but a mixup in the order yielded the brewery a bunch of extra basil. Instead of letting it go to waste, Keith added it in just to see what would happen. The outcome was a roundhouse kick of basil with a citrus punch that worked so well it left Keith literally Tongue Thai-ed.

Bottle on the bus during RBWG 2014 - Asheville. Bleh. Super herbal, loaded with anise, lemon rind, basil. Very sweet, syrupy. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Lingering herbs in the finish. This stuff really raped my palate. I couldn’t taste anything but this beer for about 20 minutes. Upsetting.

Bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a slightly cloudy dark orange with minimal head. Aroma of orange citrus and basil. Hint of lemongrass. Taste is light sweet. Basil, citrus and lemongrass. Light bodied with a somewhat creamy texture. Lively carbonation and a very long finish. Pretty good overall, a little heavy on the basil for my liking but very good nonetheless.

From a bomber with a twist off cap, how unique is that? Big cloudy pour with a 1/2 inch rocky head. Initially somewhat fruity on the nose. the noze also carries with it some weird stuff in there. First taste is big odd bitter medicinal impact. let me tell you, the basil from beaver brewing is so well behaved, it makes this stuff somewhat obtrusive. This becomes over the top as the session continues. Yes, almost seems artificial on the basil and lemon grass if that is possible. Good co2 saves this from being a boner. Yes, that smell is really in yer face towards the end. Not sure what to think of this stuff, wew.

Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy caramel color with a large fluffy orange-white head that lingered and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was pepper, basil, lemon and tequila. The flavor was strong black pepper, strong basil and moderate notes of tequila and lemon with an undertone of wheat bread. Long finish of pepper, basil, lemon and tequila. Moderately full bodied. Hard to drink the whole bottle.

Tap - seems like they made an Oktoberfest and decided to "jazz it up" with Thai herbs and spices - the surprising thing is that it works really well - the base lager is clean and free of any obvious flaws, with a rich Munich sweetness that works well with the flavors of sweet and mildly spicy basil, cardamom character, and a touch of chilis - the spices/herbs are used with a light touch, making the lager itself really the star, and the adjuncts merely a compliment - I quite enjoyed it.

Bottle. Sassafras, tulsi, light lemongrass, fruity malt, and light alcohol aroma. Clear copper with a minimal head. Black pepper, lemongrass and basil flavor. Light body, soft - almost flat - carbonation. Personally, I thought the basil was overkill.

Bottle. Ginger, basil and lemon grass aroma. Amber with small head. Sweet caramel malt with bitter basil and lemongrass flavor. Light bitter aftertaste. Not bad.

Nearly clear, bubbly orange-amber...minimal off-white head. Aroma is minty, basil, pepper. Lemongrass, citrus, strong basil. Spicy, sweet, herbal. Interesting and unique. Very good, though it wears on you after a bit. Definitely worth a taste.
