Bottle. Pours a dark brown with small tan head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is strong rye, berries, roast. Thin mouth, similar flavors to nose, light fruit, good.

Bottle - Blueberry and toasted malt. Dark maroon with a beige thin head. Chocolate malts, blueberry, light funk and a long finish. Neither sweet nor sour, not their best.

Tap at GTP. Brown-purple-black color. Foamy steady head. Mellow berry tinged aroma. For a berry-rye, this just nails it. Rich sweet malt tones. Pleasant dark berry balance. Maybe the best beer of the night. Supremely balanced, all out quality feel. Awesome beer, maybe the best rye I’ve had all year.

Bottle. Pours a near clear dark purplish brown with an off-white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has notes of earthy rye and some earthy blackberries as well. Flavor is similar with musty rye and a growing blackberry note. Flavors seem to contradict.

750mL bottle pours with an amber colored body that supports a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up blue berry, some slight malty notes and slivers of molasses. The taste has a mix of spicy rye bread, roasted malts, some slight astringent berry notes and then some sweet berry fruit juice here and there. Pretty neat.

Bottle @ Greg’s house courtesy of jcnielsen. Thanks Jetson! Pours a dark reddish brown appearance with a brown head. Dark berry, spicy rye, caramel, fruity aroma. Chocolate, caramel, blackberry fruity, tangy flavor. Strange but ok.

10 oz draft at Martin City Brewing Company in Kansas City, Missouri. The pour is a dark brown mahogany, bit of purple, and a one inch tan head. The aroma is blackberry deep fruit, earthy spice rye and a bit of sweet malt. The taste is the spiced rye and the blackberry up front, nicely blended and balanced together. The palate is medium to heavy bodied, a bit coating on the mouth feel, and the berry fruit finish. Fun beer.
