Hazy light amber and deep copper coloured body with a single centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of honey, resin, alcohol, pine, sap, apricots and sugary alcohol. Full-bodied; Assertive apricot and honey flavour with a lot of resin and pine right behind with some malt, caramel, toffee and much more alcohol burn near the end. Aftertaste shows some heavy body, syrupy apricot sweetness and a lot of hop bitterness with very little else. Overall, a very high alcohol and apricot sweet heavy beer with a big body and little room for anything else. That said, it isn’t the worst beer, but just an Imperial IPA with a relatively narrow focus and heavy body/alcohol content. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in Tampa, Florida on 03-January-2014 for US$3,99, sampled on 30-October-2015. This bottle states an ABV of ’only’ 10%. 12 ounce bottle. Pours a clear dark amber color with a medium white head. A big malty sweet pine nose. A big sweet malty barley wine like IIPA, sugary toffee, pine, some citrus, orange peel. Very enjoyable. Big, sweet, smooth.

This beer is a clear orange-amber color with a medium bone white head that recedes gradually. Sticky rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus, hops and grainy malt. Medium to full body with flavors of resiny hops, fruit and sweet malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a piney hops aftertaste. Decent overall.

12 oz. bottle, sent from wilco (thanks a lot, Mike), pours a cloudy opaque orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out dank earthy hops, in a rather muffled way, with some murky malt backing. Flavour is quite pungent on the hops, with big notes of resinous and piney hops, wood, and a strong astringency. Not overly complex, with a slightly harsher-than-average astringency. Drinkable, but rather harsh and astringency. Not great.

Cloudy orange to light amber color. Resiny hops, very strong, a bit fruity, but also very buttery; the malt profile is ok, not chewy, the alcohol a bit too strong
Good brew, but unfresh.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 12/31/2013. Pours lightly hazy golden amber color with a 1 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big grapefruit, pineapple, lemon zest, orange zest/rind, pine resin, grass, floral, caramel, toffee, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Ok aromas with very harsh smelling hop presence that is a bit too vegetal; with moderate malt balance and big strength. Taste of big grapefruit, pineapple, pine resin, lemon zest, orange zest/rind, grass, floral, caramel, toffee, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Large amount of pine resin bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, lemon zest, orange zest/rind, pineapple, pine resin, caramel, toffee, bread, floral, grass, and floral earthiness on the finish for a while. Ok flavor balance and complexity big pine/citrus hop flavors with moderate malt balance; with harsh and vegetal hop flavors and a fair amount of cloying bitterness after the finish. Medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a slick, sticky, and resinous mouthfeel that is ok. Alcohol is fairly well hidden with a moderate warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very mediocre double IPA. Far too much harsh and vegetal character from the hops makes this moderately unpleasant, but it was not undrinkable.
