Very dark red. Nose is weak with a definite maple syrup taste. Big woody and cherry taste. More birch and oak like. Maple throughout. Too sweet for me

22 ounce bottle into snifter, 2014 vintage bottling. Pours crystal clear very dark brown color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of chocolate, caramel, cocoa, toast, brown bread, raisin, plum, apple, maple syrup, woodiness, and toast/yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, maple syrup, and yeast ester notes; with solid strength. Taste of chocolate, caramel, cocoa, toast, brown bread, raisin, plum, apple, maple syrup, woodiness, and toast/yeast earthiness. Light earthy/woody bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, caramel, cocoa, toast, brown bread, raisin, plum, apple, maple syrup, woodiness, and toast/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice complexity and balance of dark/bready malt, maple syrup, and yeast ester flavors; with solid robustness and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth and fairly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice Imperial English porter. Good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, maple syrup, and yeast ester flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. I felt like the flavors should have been quite a bit bolder at this ABV, but it was nicely enjoyable overall.

Bottle. Dark brown with white head. Nose/taste of maple, toasted chocolate, vanilla and roast. Medium body.

Pours deep mahogany into a Sam glass. Pancake batter head with medium retention recedes leaving no lacing to mottle surface. Dark chocolate and maple aromas. Thin with dark caramel and maple upfront turning to mildly charred chocolate in the medium length finish.
