The legendary hop-hunter Krunkles turns up yet again, back from a tour of the Orient. His mission this time is to get experimental; his unbounded travels have earned him an honorary doctorate (“Doctor of what?”, you may ask? This would be a question to which only Krunkles knows the answer…) and he’s sequestered himself in the lab perfecting a never-before-seen formula for his beloved IPA.

Dr. Krunkles White Farmhouse IPA reaches new heights in complexity and flavor by combining the malt and spices of a Belgian Witbier, the yeast of a Farmhouse Ale, and the hoppy goodness of an American IPA. Krunkles’ twisted touch is a dash of white peppercorn followed by wood aging on white ash

Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 1/16/13

Aroma: The nose is spice and yeast, tart notes, fruit, and a bit of hop as well
Appearance: Pours a really nice clear orange color with a clean, frothy white head and heavy lace
Flavor: The flavor leans toward the Belgiany side, yeasty, some spice, a bit tart, and lightly bitter
Palate: The body is medium, it has a smooth, creamy mouthfeel, and a tart/light dry finish
Overall Impression: Really nice looking beer, and pretty tasty too. I felt that Belgiany and farmhouse flavors were more dominant in this one than the IPA flavors were, but I liked it. Nice addition with the spice and oak aging as well.

Bomber from Knightly in Orlando, FL. Pours hazy gold with a foamy white head. Aroma is lightly suggestive of sour peach. And fruity hop. Med body. Flavor has yeast spice - clove? - quite Belgian and quite fruity hoppy. Seems a bit complicated, but it’s a good drink.

22oz bottle pours orange with some creamy, white head. Nose is minty, a little buttery, apricot, soap. Flavor is interesting, herbal, minty, soap, a little white bread, white pepper. Peppery finish. Odd.

22 oz. bottle. Light straw color, with a huge, pillowy, off-white head. The aroma is lemon zest, heavy wheat, coriander, and some resinous and floral hops. The flavor is big, citrusy sweetness, with a mild bitterness. Light body, a little chalky, very bubbly, and acidic. This is a wonderfully complex beer. Light, very quaffable, and tasty. I wish the bottle were bigger!
