Bottle thanks to Paul. Pours a cloudy gold with small white head that lasts. The aroma is funk, oak, yeast, honey. Medium mouth, yeast, honey, oak, light dry finish, good.

Sampled via bottle at WTWBA 2014. Dry. Some cardboard, and lots of wet, moldy basement. Interesting beer that is not sour, not that it should be, even though I was left wondering if it might go that way with some more time.

Picked this up a couple months ago in Chicago - figured I should drink it before it started to deteriorate - cloudy gold - impossible to pour without it immediately filling the glass up with foam - took me a good ten minutes to get a decent amount in the glass - anyway - nose is dense, pasty, chalky neutral yeast at first, and this subdues a lot of the other character - there is some lemon, melon rind, and some nose spicy phenolics, as well as a mild mineral flintiness that is quite pleasant, though, it just doesn’t manage to pop as much because of the heavy, dull yeastiness in the mix - despite the froth it kicks up, the body is a little flat and dull - flavor is very dry, lightly tart, bordering on moderately sour citric character - this is followed by peppery phenolics, some earthy/dusty yeast - finish is chalky - there are many pleasant things about this - it seems like a recipe that has a lot of potential, but right now it is muddled and a bit messy - there is also the faintest hint of diacetyl as it warms - keep trying, guys.

Pour is a chalky, yeast filled yellow with a huge white head. Aroma is yeast, doughy malt and a bit of lemongrass. Flavor is the same estery yeast notes followed but a decent citrus/lemon with some dry malt to bring things up. A saison by the numbers but this is a pretty tasty version.
