Sampled at the brewpub pours a translucent deep brown with some creamy, off white head. Nose has some sweet and sour sauce, malt, mild ketchup, molasses. Flavor tightens up, malt, roast, mild toast, bread crust. Finishes dry. Some odd notes on the nose, but it rebounds.

Sampled on draft at the brewery this beer poured a black color with a large creamy dark beige head that lingered and produced great lacing. The aroma was dry and very roasty and bitter with a hint of coffee. The flavor was dry, bitter, smoky and roasty with notes of coffee and wood. The finish was long, dry, bitter and woody. medium body. Not my style but decent none the less.

Location: On tap at the Brew Pub, 8/14/09

Aroma: Decent nose, nutty, roasted, coffee
Appearance: Dark black, tan head
Flavor: Similar to the nose, malty, a bit on the dull side, but not bad
Palate: Light body and watery, a bit too thin
Overall Impression: This beer is OK. It's nothing special, but it is drinkable, looks nicer then it tastes, and ends up being a touch to dull and watery to be considered anything more then an alright stout.

Draft...very dark brown with a light brown head that is gone almost instantly...mild molasses aroma...thin body for a stout....slight metallic aftertaste...weak roasted coffee taste

Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 6.5

Sample at the brew pub: This brew is solid black with a medium thin and fizzy beige head that diminishes rapidly. Specks of lacing. Nutty, roasted malt aroma. Medium-bodied and smooth with roasted coffee and malt flavors that fall off pretty fast. There is a touch of chocolate as well but again it retreats quickly. The finish is on the thin side and feels soapy, with a lingering hops and coffee aftertaste. Average, and would be significantly better if it weren’t so timid.

Tun Tavern Leather-Neck Stout-on tap-pours a pitch black color. Taste is a strong roasty, a bit of alcohol comes through also. It’s an OK taste.
