Sampled from the tap at the brewpub. Pours a deep brown with a light brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has lots of coffee with creamy sweet dark grains and light roast supporting. Flavor has a nice coffee note with sweet grains and a decent amount of roast backing.

Tap. Pours deep clear Ruby black, small tan head, decent lacing. Aroma is espresso, mocha, hints of ashtray and dark sugars. Flavor is light plus sweet, fully bitter, acrid, burned malts and our coffee, tending to rubber, rich mocha and dark sugar notes persist. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel. Palate etching sharpness and bitterness on the finish. Shame.

Bottle @ Pinsky's, 11/18/15. Dark brown pour with a light brown head. Decent, drippy lacing. Sweet, heavy coffee aroma. Sugar and molasses come through. Definitely used a coffee I would have enjoyed in this one. Seems like a fairly bitter coffee, but the sweetness adds a nice balance. I'll have to try it. Overall, a nice coffee beer that leans toward the sweet side for the style. I enjoyed this quite a bit.

Sample at the brewpub. Brownish-black color with a medium foamy tan head that recedes gradually. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of coffee, roast malt and chocolate. Medium to full body with flavors of roasted coffee, dark chocolate and charred malt. The finish is roasty with a malt and coffee aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Tap at Sugar Maple. Opaque brown-black body, thin oily head. Massive coffee aroma. Big, serious coffee flavor. Perhaps one of the most coffee forward beers I’ve had. A pretty phenomenal Coffee Stout, the coffee dominates to the point where it is hard to gauge the ABV. Clean chocolate backdrop really lets the coffee shine. Top notch. The brown sugar and coffee meld perfectly. Thick coffee grounds. Exotic, bold, fantastic.

Draft at pigminds. Pours black with a half finger of dark brown head. Aroma is totally dominated by strong black coffee. Taste is light bitter. Coffee dominance with a slightly sweet hint of brown sugar. Full bodied with a thinner than expected texture. Soft carbonation and a finish that will probably stay with me for the rest of the night. Overall, awesome. This one would be great to try barrel aged.
