Aroma of sweet malt, caramel, candy sugar, dark fruits. Flavour is malty and sugary sweetness, with a moderate bittersweet finish. Mediocre Bock.

Bottle. Dark brown color. Caramel, a hint of roast and pear drups in the aroma. Thinnish. Malty sweet, caramelly flavor with pear drups. Sugary, sticky, slightly alcoholic. Hint of licorice.

Bottle at home. Mahogany with small beige head. Red grapes, dusty cocoa, dark bread, dried plums, raisins, cola, red berries. Quite fruity, but also dusty and bready. Medium sweet and bitter and light sour. Medium bodied. Bit weird.

Dark, if clear deep redbrown beer; good cream-coloured head, slightly irregular and reasonably stable. Rainwater, leafy, slightly earthy, coloured malts/melanoidins. Quite malty flavour, coloured malts as chocolate malt, and a bit of other grains. Faintlysalty/fishy flaour - DMS? But nothing very exciting. Medium bodied and quite slick, good carbonation. Flavours petering out Ho-hum.

330 ml. bottle @ home. Procured from ABC Beers. 2014 Edition. BBF 03/2016. Dark burned sugar amber, little head. Weird vegetable stock, burned sugar, caramelized malt, sweet nose, weird vegetable nose coupled with lots of burned sugar sweetness, light vegan salami. Taste is herbal, touch metallic huge umami burned sugar, touch very sweet herbs, lots of sweet vegetable stock, lots of caramelized malts,… Very weird flavor profile. Oily thick caramelized sugar lager body, coats the mouth a bit, lots of burned & caramelized sugar. Almost too weird to stomach but does drink easily enough, not too heavy. Very strange brew & not really what I would expect from the style but I do have limited experience there. Looking at my scores I don’t seem to be the biggest fan of this style either.

Clear deep red brown colour, small frothy light tan head, recedes after a while to a thick layer, good lacing. Sweet malty aroma, toasted, caramel, brown sugar, dark fruits, cocoa. Taste medium sweet and bitter, roasted, bit chocolate. Medium body, oily to creamy texture, average carbonation, aftertaste mild roasted bittersweet, chocolate, spicy notes. Overall okay but lacks depth and body to be a good doppelbock.

Bottle 330ml. @ home. [ As Arn Brouwerij Bokkige Arn ].Clear medium to dark brown color with a huge, frothy and open, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, sweet malt, dark malt, light earty - tobacco. Flavour is moderate sweet and ligh to moderate bitter with a long duration, roasted, dark malt, brown sugar, malt bitter. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20141109]
