So what do you call Matthew and Gunnar together? A Full Nelson. Ba da boom. A New Mexico beer obtained in Santa Fe, La Cumbre has not let me down before, here we go. The 22 oz bottle is opened and poured into my New Belgium tasting glass. There is a cloudy light yellow, slightly orange body accompanied by a there-and-gone white head. The nose, all right, here comes grapefruit, lemon, grass. All just a build up to a drink. Oh yeah. It delivers, stout hoppiness, citrus, pine needles, hemp, perhaps a slight sweetness. Not as raw as Elevated, the palate is cleansed and the abv is higher. Very tasty.

Bottle thanks to wchesser! Pours hazy butterscotch, medium off-white head, dissipates fairly quickly to some residual and lacing. Aroma is initially pretty green onion and garlic forward. After breathing a bit the tropical and slightly dank notes come out. Flavor is light plus sweet, light plus bitter, juicy and dank, not harsh and not hot, which are two plusses. Hints of onion remain. Medium body, slick mouthfeel. Hugely crushable DIPA.

Enjoyed at gabf 2014. It pours with a great looking crystal clear copper body that has gold hues and supports a near white head. This has big Nelson aromatics with mango and grape with a bit of spicy dankness and then a thin sweet malt base off in the background. The taste delights as its bold and rich and balanced with plenty of bittering hops and flavor hoppiness going on. Wow, I get spicy garlic and onion dankness and mango, sweet white grapes and then a thin layer of floral hoppiness at the edges of the experience. Terrific stuff.

GABF 2014. Pours a golden yellow appearance with a white head. Very intense aroma and flavor. Very resiny. Some citrus, mango, pineapple, other tropical fruits. Pretty dry. Fairly high bitterness. Somewhat dank and piney. Nice brew that I’d love to try again.
