Kind of a miss here. Heavy on the barley finish with some bitterness, some booze. Candied finish, a lot of booze. Too much sweetness. A lot of different aromas floating around, they just don’t necessarily come together super well. Pours orangy brown with good head and lacing. Bottle.

750 ml bottle into snifter, late 2012 bottling. Pours slightly hazy pale orange amber color with a small dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin lace cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big orange zest, lemon zest, pineapple, peach, pear, apple, honey, wheat, light caramel, floral, grass, toast, pepper, light nuttiness, and yeast earthiness; with a light phenolic note. Nice aromas with good balance and complexity of hop, malt, and ester notes; with good strength. Taste of orange zest, lemon zest, peach, pear, apple, pineapple, honey, wheat, pepper, floral, grass, light caramel, toast, clove, light nuttiness, and yeast earthiness. Fair amount of earthy floral bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus zest, peach, pear, pineapple, apple, honey, wheat, floral, grass, pepper, toast, clove, light nuttiness, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Good balance and complexity of hop, malt, and ester notes; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a slick and fairly crisp mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with only a small warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a nice wheatwine style. Good balance of hop, malt, and ester flavors; and quite smooth to sip on for the gravity. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Pours slightly hazy copper color with off white head. Caramel and dough aromas with some light citrus. Sweet caramel flavor with some candi sugar, pine and grapefruit. A little boozy. Medium to full body with moderate carbonation. Quite impressive for a Magic Hat beer.
