Big, bold, hoppy & gold... Built sturdy enough to withstand the Apocalypse, but delicate enough to sip and enjoy all night.

Golden color with small head. Sweet fruits, bananas, flowery aroma. More fruity sweetness than malt sweetness which makes it very interesting. Moderate bitterness. Nice!

Bottle. Musty, yeasty orange/lemon malt and hay aroma. Hazy golden yellow with small head. Sweet orange/lemon, light caramel malt, and moderately bitter orange peel flavor. Very pleasant.

12 oz. bottle purchased at Julio’s Liquors. Consumed 9/21/14 while watching football. Hazy golden color with lasting fluffy head. Think lacing until the conclusion of the brew. Aroma has a nice fruity character with some floral hints. Mild perfumey notes.

The flavor has mild Belgian yeast, the fruity hints that I smell. The body is pale malts with sweet grain. As I was drinking this I didn’t realize it was 9%. The body was kind of thin but it helped make it feel like a lower AVB Belgian. Overall, very easy to drink and looking back I would sample it again.

Bottle at home. Bottled 13.12.2013. Has a slightly hazy straw yellow colour with a small, off-white head. Fresh aroma of citrus, grass, hay, herbs, Belgian yeast and some pepper. The flavour follows up and is still fresh, spicy and full of grass. Has a slick mouth feel, and a light to medium bitterness. A tasteful, fresh and delicious pale, strong Belgian ale. The alcohol is well camouflaged.

Bottle I think from de Molen beershop quite a while ago, no BB date, large sample, served in a tulip glass. Slight hazy yellow to golden color, medium slight off-white head. Aroma of flowery hops, slight peppery yeast, bit spicy, slight citrus fruitiness. Slight hint of sweetness in taste, soft bitterness, dry and spicy. Medium carbonation, thin to medium body. Wonderfully balanced belgian strong golden ale, in the category of Duvel and Chouffe. But those beers are much and much more easily available.

Small white head. Yellow body with lots of small particles. Fruity mealy earthy aroma with spicy herbal notes. Dryish fruity resiny earthy taste with peachy notes. Mid-bodied. Slightly sharp mouthfeel. Dryish mealy peachy winter apple aftertaste with metallic earthy notes. Quite nice, but the aroma was better. (0.355l bottle, I forget where from, but probably Ølbutikken, Copenhagen.)

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 12/13/2013. Pours hazy/cloudy deep gold color with a 1-2 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings on the glass, with some moderate streaming carbonation. Aromas of big lemon zest, orange peel, apricot, pear, apple, light banana, black pepper, clove, herbal, grass, wheat, bread, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, pale malt, and earthy hop flavors; with great strength. Taste of big lemon zest, orange peel, apricot, pear, apple, banana, black pepper, clove, herbal, grass, wheat, bread, and yeast earthiness. Fair amount of earthy yeast spice/hop bitterness on the finish, with some slight fruity tartness; with lingering notes of lemon zest, orange peel, apricot, pear, apple, banana, black pepper, clove, herbal, grass, wheat, bread, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity and robustness of fruity/spicy yeast, pale malt, and earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/yeast balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, crisp, and slightly slick/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice Belgian strong pale ale. All around nice balance and complexity of yeast, malt, and hop flavors; and very smooth and crisp to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle at Craig’s. Pours clear pale gold, thick white head. Bit over-carbonated if anything. Aromas are bready yeast and lemon. I had this down as a saison, and not a 9% either. More yeast on the taste, good citric bitterness. Interesting.
