Reviewed from notes.
Bottle to snifter.
Appearance: dark brown close to black color with a finger and a half's worth of off-white foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: roasty malts, piney hops, citrusy hops, black coffee and a super light honey whiff far down under
Flavor: melds the prior noted aromas to a roasty to bitter and slightly sweet quality; finishes slightly roasty with a touch of bitter and low key dryness
Texture: medium bodied; leaning towards being a sipper; low smoothness with appropriate dryness but also that honey seems to prevent the dryness from becoming "too much."
Overall: though I expected the "palate wrecking" capabilities to be there for the style, I guess I can't be "too" harsh on rating this since Pipeworks said there's honey in this.

Bottle. Pours opaque black, medium creamy brown head, dissipates slowly, nice lacing. Aroma is roasty, citrus, pine. Flavor is light plus sweet, medium bitter, roasty and citrus. Medium body, a bit of acidity. Tasty.

Location: Bottle shared at Max and Andy's Tasting, 2/28/15

Aroma: It has a nice hoppy aroma, resiny, pine, and lightly sweet/roast as well
Appearance: Brown in color, with a small head on it, and some fairly heavy lace
Flavor: Hops over malts flavor wise, similar to the nose from a component perspective
Palate: This one has a nice, smooth, mouthfeel, with a dry finish
Overall Impression: Pretty solid one overall. Definitely leans toward the hoppy side for the style, which works quite nicely

Purchased at Binny’s in Chicago, IL; enjoyed on a nice January Sunday while watching final playoff football. Appearance is a creamy pitch black with a rich tan head that lightly laces to the glass. Aroma is huge with piney hops and sweet notes from the chocolate and honey, smell is fantastic. Taste is real good, very real good, tropical fruit notes with roasted chocolate, coffee, honey, well done. This may be one of my fav Pipeworks brews.
