Sampled draft @ Braustelle. An Alt brewed and sold in Cologne, look at that, badass. Murky brown with a tanned head. Nose is dark fruits, touch tree sap, liquorish, bark, herbs, rich & full. Taste is bitter bark, light tree sap, thick malty, herbs, touch caramel, brown sugar, touch bread & bitter. Rich body, pretty good, I think the low scores on here are the result of infected bottles. Fresh & on draft, this is quite a nice brew.

Clear caramel color with a fine big frothy off white head. Good lacing. Malty, herbal and mild fruity aroma. Medium body. Moderate sweet and a moderate bitterness. Average carbonation. Dominating caramel malty flavor. Some herbal and fruity notes. The herbal touch was a bit disturbing in this beer.

Amber towards mahogany, full head. Wood and malt aroma with peppery tones. Earth tones also in the taste, balanced bitterness.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Murky brown with a small head. Aroma and taste of malt, nuts, earth and wood. Also some sour notes. The body was light. A disappointment.

Bottle. Rough maltiness with a flowery, herbal bitterness and a dry finish. Feels big and thin at the same time? A little rough in the edges, otherwise good.

Hazy amber-brown color with medium sized head. The aroma is not captivating; soil, pond water, dry seaweed. Dusty flavor, with distinctive accent of Japanese food, seaweed; some yeast too.
I wanted to drink this today, just back from Düsseldorf; really not on par with the original ones.
Earlier Rating: 7/12/2011 Total Score: 2.8
Draught at the brauhaus
Muddy amber color; creamy head. The aroma is a bit yeasty and dusty first; vegetables and roasted malt too. Dusty malts flavor; the bitterness is too aggressive, coming with yeast and a homebrew mark. The final is therefore harsh.
Difficult to understand what it’s aiming at...

Bottled@SBWF2013. Ambery copper colour, small white head. Aroma is eggy, earthy, mild floral notes. Flavour is "shite arseholeshitfuck" according to the notes I wrote, with the completing, very similar to the aroma, and not pleasant at all.
Earlier Rating: 3/20/2010 Total Score: 3
Bottled (from bierzwerg.de). Very deep hazy brownish amber colour with mediumsized close to white, but still a bit off-colour, leaving slight haze. Aroma is toasted malts, cooked vegetables, some raisins and mild wooden notes as well. Flavour is caramel malt, herbs, spices and some mild cooked vegetables.

Bottled at SBWF. Hazy nut brown, small head. Sheer egg fart aroma. Sweet and fruity with messy unfirm body. Some earthy flavours, but mostly egg. Eeck.

Draught at the brewpub. Hazy dark borwn, small head. Tart earthy nose. Sweetish with light-medium body. A bit salty with some ash. All components of an alt is there, but it lacks soul. A modern, new world interpretation of the style.
