Again, the basic old and young lambic are matured in oak casks. But here we add to one year-old lambic about 400 grams of real cherries per litre. This creates a second fermentation in the casks. Oude Kriek Boon then undergoes a further fermentation in the bottle and has an alcohol volume of 6.5%. After several months, the flavour has matured to the desired taste.
Oude Kriek Boon is a test of your patience. It should lie about 2 years in the bottle. At first, it tastes of fruit, especially sour cherries. Oude Kriek Boon eventually evolves into a deep taste reminiscent of Port or Madeira wine. This is kriek at its best.

0,375 l bottle. 2014. Dark dark red in the glass, small fast fading rosΓ© head. Sweet sour fruitieness smell. Taste starts fruity, switching to a more dry sequence with less fruity. Can not really convince in the second part.

Bloed rood met roze kraag, warm weer, dus prima weet voor deze. Aroma en smaken van kersen, rood fruit, hout, zuurtje, wat dun, waterig, aardig Maar niet te, wat belerkt, mist wat zuur complexiteit.

Dark garnet color with a minimal and quickly diminishing off-white head. Aroma with a high presence of cherries and some other red fruits. Flavor with mild sourness, very fruity, cherry notes and some sweetness. Medium acidic in the aftertaste, very fruity.

2013 vintage. 375 cl bottle served in tall stemmed tasting glass at La Tape, Madrid. Pours slick and dense, maroon/eggplant-hued, with thick short-lasting pinkish head. Aroma is intense and balanced: tobacco, yeast, brown sugar, Morello cherry, strawberry, wild honey. Taste is very dry and very sour, with no presence of umami, metal or bitterness at all. Long finish. Great one.

Tap at Mad for Beer in Rome-Italy. Dark purple pour, tick and persistent purple foam. Nose: cherries jam, a bit cheesy, feet. Mouth is medium sweet, quite gassy, sweet cherry extract. Not terrific. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
