An experimental imperial stout fermented with Belgian yeast, and aged in red wine barrels. Coffee, dark choclate, and grapes on the nose give way to a roasty, full malt body with slight notes of dried plum and cranberry on the finish.

On tap at Sehkraft pours a muddy, oily black with no head. Light legs. Nose has grape jelly, wood pulp, heavy malt, a little squid, burnt toast. Flavor follows, there are malty/toasty notes, licorice, but then lots of grape jelly and booze and brandy. Tannic and boozy finish. Not only is the barrel a bit overdone, but I think the base beer is flawed.

Sample at the Badge-Whore Bowl (OSU vs AL) tasting on 01/01/2015. The beer pours brownish-black with a medium tan head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt, oak and fruit. Full-bodied with a vinous oak character and notes of charred malt and dark chocolate. The finish is oaky with a malt aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

5-6 oz draft pour at Adroit Theory. Brownish black with tan head. Aromas of big oak andred wine, caramel, chocolate. Tastes of big red wine and oak, leather, light chocolate. Medium body with a dry finish. Prefer the base beer but this is okay. Maybe aged a bit too long as the wine seems to overpower the base flavors a bit much.
