Are there any aromatics more corruptly appealing than that suspect waft of dirt and sex that is the heart of fresh white truffles? Not the fake pretty perfumes ubiquitous these days, but the approach/avoidance primitive reaction to that heady scent of something that was secretly thriving just below fecund soil on early morning moments in late fall. Gilded Lily looks to take the beauty of a classic Belgian tripel a step further by stitching a little bit of white truffle’s leather to the edges of the beer’s luxurious drape–the pull of a touch of kink peeking from a lovely silk robe. Drink Gilded Lily because a little hint of dirty makes it all the more alluring.

Sample at Denver Rare Beer Tasting XVI (Last Call) on 10/09/2025. Clear golden color with a thin white head that burns away steadily to a film. Short strings of lace. Aroma of yeast, truffles and malt. Full-bodied with flavors of fruity Belgian yeast, earthy truffles and biscuit malt. The finish is earthy and fruity with a truffle and yeast aftertaste. Interesting beer and pretty good all around.

Can at home, Nivala. Color is cloudy golden with very small white head. Aromas and flavors: Sweetness, oily sweetness, mushroom sauce, Belgian yeast and malts. Actually quite bad with very low drinkability.

4 oz. drat at EBF, Boston. Saturday Night session. Let me start by saying I like this brewery. On that note, All I could get from this brew was truffle oil. Overly saturated truffle oil sitting on top of French fries. 2 oz. was about all I could manage. Could not find the base brew at all.

On tap at Hunah Day. Pours a cloudy gold with medium frothy white head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is belgian yeast, fruity malt, booze. Medium body, yeast, pure sugar, lemon zest, boozy finish, good.

Draft a RnH - West. Clear golden color. White head. Light, spotty lacing. Smells of basically nothing but truffle. But if underlying malt. Sweet / yeasty flavor, lots of truffle. Earthy, light dry close. Kinda genius.

12oz can thanks to Steve. Pours out a crisp golden topped with a white head. Nose is crazy truffles rich malts sweetness. Taste is more of the heavy sweetness spice truffle and a nice malt.

On tap at Cotello’s Restaurant in Yardville, NJ. Pours a honey gold color with a small creamy white head. Aroma is bread, yeast and earthy truffle. Upfront, you get a combination of sweet bready malt and subtle earthy truffle. Next comes the big alcohol oomph. Intensely complex and bittersweet as a Tripel should be. The truffle note adds a unique twist. Best sipped slowly and definitely not a session beer.
