Bottle at home on a miserable Sunday, 23rd September 2012, pours a huge soft head that keeps on growing, nice hoppy aroma, taste is delicious and rich, like a kernel black ipa, but richer and softer in mouth, nice stuff

Bottle. It pours a dark reddish brown body and a dense, finger-thick light beige colored head. The aroma is mostly on the fruity, hoppy side, as it should be, with a faint roasted touch in the back. Resins, green pine cones, citrus peel and some grapefruit. The flavor has a nice bitterness, with some roasted hints in the far back, and piney, grapefruity flavors up front. It’s full-bodied, with a nice carbonation, finishing bitter and hoppy. Certainly one of the best black IPA’s I’ve had, really tasteful and dangerously easy drinkable. 111229

On tap at Mikkeller Bar. Dark brown/black opaque liquid with medium to big off-white/light tan head. Aroma of grass, citrus, tropical fruit, coffee, some light ash and lots of Citra hops. Really reminds me of a BIPA I’ve brewed myself. Taste is dry and medium to high bitter with notes of grassy hops and roasted malt. Medium bodied with medium to high bitterness. Nicely hoppy.

Cask @ William IV. Black body with a thin tan head. Lovely aroma of grapefruit, pine, malt and hint of liquorices. Flavor has smooth dark malt, fruit and balanced bitterness. Relatively light flavor, still really tasty, decent bitter and extremely quaffable. Very pleasant, smooth and one of the best from Brodies.
