Bottle. Pours clear copper, small beige head, decent lacing. Aroma is lactic tart, funky, basement and bathroom, grainy, oak. Flavor is pretty tart, some acetone, strong rye presence. Medium body, lingering tartness and ABV burn. Hard to decide what I feel about this one.

Bottle. Pours dark brown tan head. Nose/taste of pumpernickel, bread, bourbon, oak, sour earth and puckering cherry vinegar - medium body.

Bottle. Dark mahogany beer with a dark cream head. Sour and earthy aroma with light breadiness and bourbon. Bourbon and caramel flavor with sourness and light spice. Medium-plus bodied. Bourbon and caramel linger with sourness, spice, and light earthiness. Somehow it all works.

Capped 750 from Monument in Concord, CA. Pours very dark copper (some might see it as brown if not held against the light) with a transient beige head. The aroma is slightly sour, exhibits a bourbon note, clearly expresses dark malts, but the rye! Maybe the name will be appropriate. Near full bodied. It starts sour, gets a bit bitingly sour, then some darkish malt turns it towards, sweet, and the rye is there! It finishes less than dry, towards a pleasant, sweetish? sour, and rye. Bourbon? Guess it’s still there, but the darkness with sour and rye is the main thing. Try this a bit warmer than most beers. Wow. I’m impressed.
