Tap at Watering Hole. Dark, chocolate brown to black with a thin layer of tan that dissipates fairly quickly. Milk chocolate and cacao bomb all over the nose with some espresso, roasted malt and sweet vanilla that stands out as it warms. Full body with a slight creamy well-rounded mouthfeel. Wonderful dessert style imperial stout. Sweet, but not overly so. Nice roasty, dry finish with some light sweetness and more chocolate and coffee. Really nice impy from Brewdog here.

At BrewDog’s new pub in Brussels - where this is sold at an unreasonably expensive price. Thin but stable, creamy, lightly lacing, beige head residing over a completely opaque black beer. Wonderful RIS aroma of bitter chocolate, iron shavings (feeling quite ’natural’ in this case), coffee beans, bayleaf, liquorice, whisky, vanilla, peat, candied plums, roasted chestnuts and some glue-like phenols. Candied figs and raisins in the onset but not overly sweet, counterbalanced with a subtle, ’deaf’ sourishness, quite a fair amount of carbonation for the style (perhaps even slightly overcarbonated), very thick and oily, fat mouthfeel, intensely nutty and toasted evolving into an abyss of deep, bitter chocolate and coffeeish roastedness but nevertheless remaining very ’rounded’ and smooth; finish is very roastedly malty, bittersweet and complex, with a deep but ’active’ peppery hop bitterness, drying, along with a hint of drying wood and warming, gin-like alcohol flirting with astringency, but engulfed by big, dark maltiness which lingers for a long time. An ambitious, expensive, luxurious imperial stout indeed, not sure if it is worth its money, but it surely shows BrewDog’s innovative and assertive character. Glad I finally tasted this modern time classic.

0,33L bottle, batch 247 with new lable (from Drink Shop, Tallinn). Pours black with dark brown head. The head stays for some time. Aroma is massive cocoa, vanilla, roast. Flavor is sweet, dark chocolate, vanilla, roast, coffee. Finish is dark chocolate-roast bitter with touch of alcohol. Overall: great brew. Tried nitro, lovely! +1 to overall.

From a 330ml bottle on 23/7/2015. Pours pretty much black with a medium deep tan head. The nose features lots of chocolate and vanilla, with a bit of caramel and just a hint of bacon. Flavour wise, it’s primarily sweet milk chocolate, coffee, vanilla, coaoa, fudge, some roasty/burnt malt, finished off y some moderate hops. The texture is quite creamy and the carbonation soft. This is a really lovely, smooth impy. Eminently quaffable at 10%. Has a bit of Founders Breakfast Stout about it, which is a very good thing.
