Welcome to the world of Cocoa Psycho, a liquid dimension where pure indulgence reigns.

This Imperial Stout borrows from the voluptuary decadence of 18th Century Russia, with its extravagantly smooth blend of crushed coffee beans, cacao nibs and dark malts.

Dig past the infusions of vanilla pods and toasted oak chips and eventually you’ll come face to face with the madness required to make this beer: a kind of depraved logic that would make Rasputin himself proud.

To fully unleash the aromas and bittersweet luxury of this stout we recommend drinking it from a stemmed beer glass before taking a sledgehammer to a Faberge egg.

Malts: Extra Pale, Wheat, Cara, Smoked, Black and Roasted Barley
Hops: Cascade, Fuggles and Goldings

Bottle from Brewcraft at home. Inky black pour with reddish brownish thin head. Looks a bit flat even. Aroma is deeply roasted with leather and some slight raisin and beef jerky-like smokiness. Not unpleasant. Taste is big - echoes aroma in smokiness and slight raisin as it warms, also boozy and bitter coffee flavors. Very rich but not creamy palate. Not in a bad way. Lasting warm booziness and lingering bitterness. Very good imperial stout. Would get again.

Bottle. Pours black, with a short lived big creamy brown head. Aroma is sweet burned malts with coffee, cocoa, leather and oak barrels, as well as notes of liquorice, honey and vanilla. Full body with soft carbonation. Flavour is burned malts with liquorice, coffee, tobacco and cocoa. Sweet cocoa and liquorice finish.

330 ml Bottle purchased 7-11 Kittery, ME for $11.49, ouch! Pitch black color no lace. Aroma is weak espresso bean, brownie batter and mild vanilla extract .

The body is a tad thinner for a 10 % Imperial. Flavor displays cocoa powder, coffee, mild vanilla bean and faint touch of smoke. Has a strong amount of bitterness that I was not excepting to find, it does help with balance of the sweetness. I like the flavor a lot but really very expensive for what it is. I can get a larger bomber or 750 ml bottle for the same money and have the stout be just as good.

BOTTLE 33CL from ivodoni1.

Look: thick oil-like pitch black body with a dark orange-brown head.
Aroma: starts almost artificially intense - coffee extract, chocolate liquor, charcoal, a hint of alcohol. Gets more mellow and rounded as it warms up.
Taste: again, starts rather over-roasted and bitter, but gains a tad of balancing sweetness as it warms up.

Draft - Roast malts, dark bittersweet chocolate. Jet black with a rich brown head. Dark roast and lots of coffee, that end with a slight cocoa note in the dark roast. Bittersweet long finish.

Bottle shared by Marcus. Pours really black with a really dark chocolate head. Aroma seems darkly coffe and chocolate. Med + body. Flavor is really dark chocolate with some strong dark coffee. There is the slightest suggestion of sweet. Sort of like putting cocoa powder in your mouth. Might be a cinnamon note. And pepper.

Bottled from speciaalbierpakket.nl, batch 164 BB 12-07-18, large sample, served in a TeKu. Dark color, medium frothy brown head. Aroma of dark roast, chocolate, coffee, slight smoked notes. Bit sweet, medium malty bitter. Quite dry, ashy, cacao makes it dry. Lots of flavors, slightly harsh. I would love to see a bit more creaminess, but still this one is quite nice.
