Welcome to the world of Cocoa Psycho, a liquid dimension where pure indulgence reigns.

This Imperial Stout borrows from the voluptuary decadence of 18th Century Russia, with its extravagantly smooth blend of crushed coffee beans, cacao nibs and dark malts.

Dig past the infusions of vanilla pods and toasted oak chips and eventually you’ll come face to face with the madness required to make this beer: a kind of depraved logic that would make Rasputin himself proud.

To fully unleash the aromas and bittersweet luxury of this stout we recommend drinking it from a stemmed beer glass before taking a sledgehammer to a Faberge egg.

Malts: Extra Pale, Wheat, Cara, Smoked, Black and Roasted Barley
Hops: Cascade, Fuggles and Goldings

BrewDog Bar Manchester 24 Jan 13. Svart. Lavt mokkafarget skum. Litt lacing. Sterk & god sjokoladearoma. Smaken sammensatt av sjokolade & lakris. Behagelig. Forsiktig bitter avslutning. Alkoholen godt kamuflert.

Bottle at The Ale House, Chelmsford. Pours black with a small tan colour head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee and roasted malt. Rich, medium/full body, minimal carbonation, slightly bitter cocoa finish. It’s good...

Bottled 330ml. -from Magic Beer Room Zagreb. Deep black coloured, medium sized brown head, dark chocolate in the nose. Roasted malt, chocolate, some coffee and alcohol with not so strong cocoa powder presence. Some late burning alcohol in the aftertaste. One-dimensional and big disappointment for me.

Bottle poured into a snifter. Batch 281, best before 11/18/2020. Pours a thick motor oil jet black with about a finger of dark tan head. Aromas of milk and dark chocolates, roast, coffee, espresso, a little vanilla. Tasting notes of big burnt coffee and espresso, roast, dark chocolate, slight peat. The burnt coffee notes seem a bit overbalanced. Nice full body with a thick mouthfeel, semi-dry finish.

Tap at the Jeffrey because in my depression from games outcome I needed an imp stout to drown sorrows. Pours deep brown with one finger head. Nose of chocolate and smoke. Tastes of chocolate, bitter espresso, earth, and ashtray. Kinda harsh and weird palate.

With a name like that, I just had to get it. Pours with an extremelly deep black color and a very small chocolate colored head. The aroma is quite strong - there is roasted smell and coffee as well. I was missing some chocolate aroma perhaps. The taste was a kick in the head. A very strong and extra bitter roasted and coffee taste. Personally, a bit too strong, and too much coffee (not a fan of it) and not enough (or at all) chocolate. Just a hint of it in the aftertaste, maybe. Definitely not a bad beer, but it just doesn’t suit my style. It would be much better with more chocolatey taste.
