Welcome to the world of Cocoa Psycho, a liquid dimension where pure indulgence reigns.
This Imperial Stout borrows from the voluptuary decadence of 18th Century Russia, with its extravagantly smooth blend of crushed coffee beans, cacao nibs and dark malts.
Dig past the infusions of vanilla pods and toasted oak chips and eventually you’ll come face to face with the madness required to make this beer: a kind of depraved logic that would make Rasputin himself proud.
To fully unleash the aromas and bittersweet luxury of this stout we recommend drinking it from a stemmed beer glass before taking a sledgehammer to a Faberge egg.
Malts: Extra Pale, Wheat, Cara, Smoked, Black and Roasted Barley
Hops: Cascade, Fuggles and Goldings

A very strong malt and chocolate aroma but it smells like a strong beer. Taste is an initial chocolate and malt

Pitch black, with a brown head. Smells delicious. Rich, lasting taste of roasted coffee, cacao and dark malt. Some vanilla as well. Very good.

330ml Bottle - Black with a tan head. Plain chocolate and roasted malt in the aroma. Roasted malt and chocolate also dominate in the rich taste. Not bad, but it becomes a bit sickly after a while.

Bottle at Tadg’s BrewDog event. Nose of cocoa, chewy fudge, soy, burnt wood. Very chocolaty flavor, rich and thick, cherries. Burnt and bitter finish. Light soy. Great, with a nice sweetness and a good balance created by alcohol heat and bitter roasting.

Dark brown color, firm brown head. Roasted, cocoa aroma. Medium-bodied, creamy palate. Cocoa, hints of tobacco, backing alcohol. When warms up, tiny veggie notes. Very pleasant, slow drinking beer.

Bottle. It pours a dark brown body, tending towards black, and topped by a brown body. Lots of cocoa in the aroma, with alcohol, some roasted malts and coffee hints. Dry on the palate, warming and full-bodied. There’s lots of cocoa in the flavor too, doing most of the work. Some chocolate and coffee, and a little touch of bitterness. Oily. Lasting cocoa finish. Pretty pleasant this one. 131116

Pours pitch black with a tan head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate, smoke, caramel, brown sugar, coffee and hint of vanilla. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and light to medium bitter with a long warm, chocolate and sweet finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
