Welcome to the world of Cocoa Psycho, a liquid dimension where pure indulgence reigns.
This Imperial Stout borrows from the voluptuary decadence of 18th Century Russia, with its extravagantly smooth blend of crushed coffee beans, cacao nibs and dark malts.
Dig past the infusions of vanilla pods and toasted oak chips and eventually you’ll come face to face with the madness required to make this beer: a kind of depraved logic that would make Rasputin himself proud.
To fully unleash the aromas and bittersweet luxury of this stout we recommend drinking it from a stemmed beer glass before taking a sledgehammer to a Faberge egg.
Malts: Extra Pale, Wheat, Cara, Smoked, Black and Roasted Barley
Hops: Cascade, Fuggles and Goldings

Pours black like motor oil from the bottle. The head is brown and foamy and slowly settles to a thin creamy layer amidst copious lacing. An imposing looking beer. The aroma is a mix of chocolate, pepper, and raw alcohol with the latter being, thankfully, not overly present. Still, it is noticeable. Taste is more coffee than chocolate, and has strong notes of raw paprika. Again, the alcohol is noticeable. The brew does not quite disguise the relatively high ABV. Overall a certain sour bitterness carries the day and there is relatively little chocolate for a brew called "Cocoa Psycho". Finishes peppery with a heavy dose of freshly cut paprika. The body is thick and there is a light to moderate carbonation that feels perfect for the style. All in all a good beer, but with a few noticeable flaws.

330ml bottle from Doghouse. Thick, inky, viscous black with a lively dark brown head. Bitter, sweet espresso aroma. Taste is very bitter, coffee, alcohol, not much chocolate or vanilla. Tasty

On tap @Brewdog Bar (Rome). Pours deep brown/black with a little off-white head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, milk, vanilla, alcohol, coffee. Flavour is a bit unbalanced, too sweet. High body, medium to light carbonation. A bit rough, but ok.

Massiger, malzig vanilliger Antrunk ohne starke Süße. Milde Bitterkeit, die Malzigkeit wird etwas schwächer, trocken nach Bitterschokolade. Angenehm würzig, süffig! 10/11/12/12//12

Shared 11.2 oz. bottle. Pours almost black with a brown chocolatey head. Viscous. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, booze, and vanilla. Similar taste with coffee notes. Very good.

Tap at Buskers Rome-Italy. Deep black pour, brownish foam leaving a persistent lacing. Nose: bitter cocoa powder, macerated red fruit, spirit. Mouth: clean approach, alcohol middle blast with a spirit like end and a bit tart finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle at KØ16. Good roasted aroma. Black colour. Small dark brown head. The flavour is very roasted and a little sweet. Has a bit of jam and not as much chocolate as expected. Syrupy mouthfeel. Roasted finish.
