Bottle from ABC Beers, Den Haag. Poured a clear chesnut brown with a big frothy white head. The aroma is citrus fruit and yeast, leading to a medium bitter, yesty, red-berry fruit flavour, with some acidity and a strange bitterness in the finish. I was expecting more from this beer and they talked it up well on the label. I’m not sure what the brewer was trying to achieve here. He wanted to brew a quality classic IPA I assume, but this is far from what I would call a classic IPA because the yeasty acidity dominates the beer. It has that classic Belgian Dutch yeast acidity in the flavour. The only Dutch brewer that I have come across that has successfully made a classic IPA is Leidsche. Dutch brewers can claim to make IPA’s all they want, but they won’t ever make a classic until they truly brew it like the Brits.

Bottle @ home. Slightly hazy beautyful orange colour with a big white head. Makes me thirsty looking at it. Smells hops, grapefruit, fresh, nice. Tastes very fresh and refreshing, grapefruits, hops.. Amazing IPA taste. The only downside of this beer is the amount of carbo. It’s too much and it takes away the drinkability of this beer. I’m thirsty and I want to pour this stuff down my throat. The carbo doesn’t allow for this without getting teary eyes and huge burps.
