Old Peculier is a beautiful, yet very simple beer, brewed using a very generous blend of finest pale, crystal and roasted barley with two bitter hops combined with the majestic and noble ‘Fuggle’ hop to produce a beer of awesome full-bodied flavour with subtle cherry and rich fruit overtones.

50 cl bottle @ home, BBE 30.11.2012
Aroma has goldings hops, some toffee, hay and banana. Flavour has ripe fruits, banana, toffee, some ash, caramel malt, hints of tobacco and hay. A bit oddball, but somehow I like this.

500ml bottle

Pours dark brown with a large foamy light brown/white head. Aroma of caramel malts, hops, hints of chocolate, bread and metallic notes. Taste is quite sweet with notes of caramel, ash, toffee and some fruits. Finish is slick and slightly bready with some roasty and bitter notes. Medium bodied, slightly carbonated. Okay, quite easy to drink and tasty.

0.5l bottle @ Henrik, Bergen. This is a clear deep dark cola-brown beer with a big and lasting fluffy-burbling mild tan head. The aroma has fruity notes, some hints of nuts and yeah, hops? Its actually kinda hard to tell what it is. Is it cacti perhaps? Really slick mouthfeel, medium-bodied with a soft carbonation level. Nice and mild flavors. It's definitely dark-fruity and a long way out on the sweet side with some nutty and chocolate tones. It's also a mild mild roasted tone in this one, and I quite like it. Easy as that. It's a good not over-complicated ale.

Bottle courtesy of Mrs mixylplik3, thanks for the opportunity. Pours a clear dark brown color with ruby highlights when held to light. Decent head and great lace on the way down. Smells of caramel, dark brown sugar, melanoids, dark fruits. This could be a dopplebock the way it smells. Taste is thick, sweet, and filled with dark sugars and fruits. Caramel and other burnt sugar vies for attention from raisins, prunes, and a hint of earth and minerals. Medium to thick body with a moderate level of carbonation and a thick chewy mouthfeel. Surprisingly good lower alcohol old ale. I enjoyed this, thanks MJ.

Froma 500ml bottle on 25/9/2011. Pours a clear, very dark amber with a biggish head. The aroma is very malty with some dark fruit notes. There’s quite a bit of complexity in the flavour. The backbone is sweet caramel and raosted malt, with lots of brown sugar, more dark fruit, smoke and a touch of alcohol. Has a fullish body, and finishes with a medium bitterness.Nice stuff.

Toffee, char, and thyme nose. Garnet black, medium yellow head. Rich toffee and malt flavor, almost but not quite like molasses. Grassy finish. A good version of the style and very enjoyable.

Mörk och relativt söt ale i gammal engelsk stil. Stor maltig kropp och toner av russin, honung och julkaka. Aningens för söt kanske.
