On tap at Vermont tap house.
This was poured into a flared tulip.
The appearance was a dark ruddy brown color with no head due to a bar pour.
The smell had sweet and tart raspberries up front. Light cocoa and a decent blend of smoke comes in for the balance.
The taste was sweet with a touch of tartness from the raspberries to meld with the cocoa. Nice balance. Slight smoke again.
On the palate, this was rounded out to medium body with a tart to semi sharp
bitter to sour feel.
Overall, definitely a fruit beer on here since not enough oomph on the body. And definitely one of the better beers by this company.

Bomber from State Line. Pours a clear dark brown with a medium sized foamy tan head. Fair head retention. Aroma of tart raspberries, chocolate, mild roast. The taste is chocolate, roasted malts, raspberry finish. Thin-medium bodied, smooth feel, low carbonation.

22 ounce bottle into snifter, 2014 winter release bottling. Pours nearly pitch black color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of tart raspberry, milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toast, toffee, light coffee, light herbal, and roasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt and moderate raspberry notes; with good strength. Taste of lightly tart raspberry, milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toast, toffee, light coffee, light herbal, and roasted earthiness. Slight amount of fruit tartness and light roast/herbal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of raspberry, milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toast, toffee, and light coffee on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, balance, and robustness of dark/roasted malt and moderate raspberry flavors; with a nice roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and moderately creamy mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice fruit stout. All around good balance, complexity, and robustness of dark/roasted malt and moderate raspberry flavors; and very smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Magic Hat Brewery: I think that this new version that they are making is 6%, but I can’t quite remember for sure. In any case, it is available in bombers as well, but I had it from the tap. Beer pours a nice stoutish colour with a beige head. Aroma is almost all raspberries (the worker there attested that the raspberries were the best this year). The stout flavours were really covered pretty powerfully be the raspberry, and then the finish came along and provided a roasted malt punch. Good stuff and still interesting.
