Deep amber in colour, Old Winter Ale is a strong, satisfying beer with an aroma that picks out malt, cookies and liquorice. The prominent Crystal malts add sweet, nutty flavours, beautifully balanced by floral notes from Target, Challenger and Northdown hops.

From old tasting notes. Deep reddish brown color topped by a thick, rocky beige head. Soft sweet toasted malt aroma hints at caramel. Bittersweet malt flavor has a peppery spiciness to it. A firm well-rounded ale with a pleasantly long dry finish and aftertaste.

Brown/copper. Small head that dissolves quickly. Aroma of nuts, toffee and british hops. Taste is nutty, malty, toffee, caramell, butterscotch and vaguely fruity. Diacetyl is present but not unpleasant. Finish is hoppy bitter. Low carbonation and smooth but kinda oily mouthfeel. Easy drinking. Nothing spectacular but I just like Fuller’s and these types of ales.

0.5l bottle. Crear ruby body with a beige head. Aroma of toast, caramel, a hint of butter, some roasted malts and a generous amount of floral hops. Taste of toast, roasted malts, figs and floral hops. Sweet and malty upfront, but the finish is quite bitter. Decent beer.

A little burnt and petroleum burnt plastic. Not bad but a technical fault. Can't rate.

Bottle. Pours clear chestnut with medium white head. Aroma is malt, caramel, port wine and red berries. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter. Body is creamy with soft carbonation. Finish is medium long and mostly sweet with notes that follow the nose plus some chalk and hints of soy sauce.

clear dark amber colour, moderate sized yellowish off-white head; aroma of biscuits, floral and fruity notes, toffee toasted bread and some roasted nuts;taste is similar to the aroma, but with definitely much less complexity; I’m not fully convinced by this ale - seems to be something what is brewed exclusively to ride the wave of holiday season...
