On tap @ In D Wildeman. Cloudy, amber color. Dense, uneven off white head with good retention. Aroma’s: herbal, aromatic hops, with sweet malts & some drop/licorice & sweets retronasal. Flavor is medium to full sweet with some hoppy acidity. Medium bodied. Finishes herbal, lightly bitter. Not quite what expected (Keg might have been a bit old), but rather nice.

Draft. A hazy dark amber beer with thick beige head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, and hops. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, hops, spices, and alcohol, leading to a dry, bitter, and alcoholic finish.

Bottle: A bit unclear, orangey coloured, big and stable creamy off-white head, moderate to solid grapefruity and a bit piney nose, sweet malt underneath; bitter and relatively sweet flavour, almost full bodied; a slight alcoholic touch is detectable in the fruity-hoppy finish, balanced by a certain sweet maltiness. A nice one…

Bouteille 750ml.

This didn’t quite come off right by the taste of it. Pours slightly cloudy orange with some head, good lacing. Aroma light, can’t detect much of sorachi. Malty though. Finish just boozy and sour. Not great. Tap at Blue Monk.

This is of course very similar to the original Magma perhaps with a touch less sweet fruitiness and a touch more citrus in the flavour.

Capped 750 from the Arden BevMo. Pours hazy light amber with a 3 finger creamy off-white head that does some nifty ring lacing. Aroma of slightly roasted malt and something suggesting lemon. Full bodied. Flavor is citrus/lemon with some roast malt. Maltier than expected, but it’s still pretty dry. Very citrus, but it seems to have some earthiness. Lots of flavor, but despite that it comes across rather mellow. Not Mellow Yellow.
