Dark bock beer has already been brewed in the Archduke Brewery in Żywiec in 1860. It is made of water, hops and three types of malt: Pilsner, Munich, and caramel malt. It has a dark ruby colour and a mild, rich and luscious flavour.

Bottle from Browarium, Poland. Black pour with a tan head. Nose of cola, dark chocolate, coffee, liquorice, soy sauce, brown sugar. Flavours of toffee, earth, coffee, sweet malt, chocolate, cocoa. Long, swet finish. Classic.

Bottle @ Original Burger, Gdansk. Pours very dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, coffee, licorice. Flavor is sweet, light bitter, roast malt, coffee, caramel, heavy licorice, some alcohol. Medium to full body, soft to average carbonation, sweet finish with warming alcohol. 071117

Bottle to celebrate Baltic Porter Day (thankas BlazerT!). Pours dark brown-black with beige head. The head stays for some time. Aroma is roast, malt, sweetness. Flavor is sweet and bitter, intense roast, burnt coffee, malt, touch of metallic notes and booze. Finish is dry-roast bitter with some alcohol warmth. Overall: very good.

Butelka 0,33l. Ciemnobrązowe, prawie nieprzejrzyste, choć z refleksami. Piana ciemnoberzowa, dość wysoka, ale nietrwała, szybko opada do obwódki i cienkiej warstewki nad grawerem. Po otwarciu butelki uderza wyraźny aromat suszonej śliwki, a zaraz po nim gorzkiej czekolady. Czuć też lekko nuty alkoholowe. W miarę ogrzewania suszona śliwka zaczyna trochę przypominać śliwkę podwędzaną. Piwo raczej oleiste, pełne, w smaku słodkie i nie tak złożone jak w aromacie. Wyraźna goryczka, nie tylko chmielowa, czuć w niej też paloność, jest wzmacniana przez alkohol. I to właśnie ta goryczka nie przypadła mi do gustu i obniża ogólną notę.
