Dark bock beer has already been brewed in the Archduke Brewery in Żywiec in 1860. It is made of water, hops and three types of malt: Pilsner, Munich, and caramel malt. It has a dark ruby colour and a mild, rich and luscious flavour.

Shared 16.9 oz. bottle. Pours an opaque dark brown with a foamy beige head. Messy lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, licorice and dark fruits. Taste is roasted malt, licorice, dark fruits, and chocolate notes. Also has an iron/rust element that is rather unpleasant at first, but this fades as it warms. Warming alcohol finish. Good.

50cl bottle. Pours black with a thick brown head. Roasted malt, ash, hops, licorice. Full bodied. Dark chocolate, cocoa powder, some metal notes, ashy finish. Licorice lingers. Quite nice, but the metallic notes disturbs a little.

Bottle from Market Street Wine Shop Uptown. Pours black with a soft, lacing tan head. Aroma of caramel and dark fruit. Taste is smooth, lightly dust, with dark fruit inside of chocolates, roasted malts, raisins. Quite nice, actually.

Sampled from a 500ml brown bottle this beer poured a black color with an enormous creamy dark brown head that lingered forever and left excellent lacing. The aroma was dry and dusty with cocoa, cola and a hint of fruit. The flavor was malty, tangy and bitter with sourish dark fruits, toastiness and a hint of cocoa. Medium length finish. Medium body and smooth. Solid.

Pours a near black from a bottle. Aroma of chocolate. Very fizzy in the mouth, sort of like a bitter cola or Moxie. Good beer.

Bottle: Pours nearly black with a thick tan head. Chocolate, cream and coffee, wood aromas. Taste is sweet, dark chocolate malt, wood, vanilla, coffee. Mild, oily, burnt coffee bitter. Really nice....creamy.

Butelka 0,5 z datą ważności do 15.11.2016, temperatura degustacji 14 stopni +, szkło snifter. Aromat:słodki, czekolada, wiśnie w alkoholu, delikatnie kawa, praktycznie brak nut palnych, no i żelazo (w niskich temperaturach zdecydowanie bardziej wyczuwalne, później trochę słabnie, próba skóry tylko potwierdziła) na poziomie akceptowalnym, ale wada jest. Barwa: ciemno brunatne, prawie czarne, z rubinowymi refleksami, klarowne. Piana: obfita, jasno brązowa, drobno pęcherzykowa, średnio trwała, opada do cienkiego pierścienia delikatnie zdobiąc szkło. Smak: początek słodki - likierowy ( przez alkohol który jest może nie mocno ale wyczuwalny dosyć dobrze) , następnie zaczynają znać o sobie nuty palone, czekoladowo-kawowe, wszystko złamane goryczką trochę słabą (jak dla mnie brakuje) palono-alkoholowa, wysycenie średnie, całkiem nieźle pijalne, z żelazem podobnie jak w aromacie z czasem słabnie i nie przeszkadza jak na początku. Całkiem solidny porter jedyne piwo z grupy żywiec po które sięgam, co by nie mówić i narzekać, pierwsza liga w stylu (może nie podium ale 5-6 miejsce, biorąc pod uwagę tylko krajowe portery) , oczywiście są lepsze, ale w kwestii cena jakość jedyny konkurent to okocim porter.
