A Russian Imperial Stout is one of the most intensely flavored beers a brewer can create. The combination of rich roasted barley, oak, molasses and liquorice root combine to create an utterly unique and complex imperial stout.

From a 22 oz bottle shared in Tucson AZ. Pours black with a tan head. Toasted malt aroma. Flavors of plums, dark cherries and hints of chocolate and coffee. A wonderfully;y complex range of flavors. This is a good one.

Got in a trade with swingracex. 25 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 3/27/2012. Pours dense pitch black color with a 1 finger dense dark tan head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, char, roasted malt, raisin, molasses, caramel, licorice, toast, floral, clove, oak, and roasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of roasted and dark malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, char, toast, molasses, caramel, raisin, licorice, floral, oak, clove, and roasted earthiness. Good amount of roasted coffee bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, roasted malt, char, raisin, molasses, toast, caramel, oak, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity and balance of deep roast with dark malt flavors and a fair amount of oak presence; with huge robustness and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and very full bodied; with a very creamy, slick, and lightly chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is extremely well hidden with hardly any warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a fantastic Russian imperial stout! Huge complexity of roasted and dark malt flavors with moderate oak presence; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

A deep dark stout with a thin lacing brown head. In aroma, dark fruits macerated in sweet chocolate, maraschino cherries, and smooth alcohol. In mouth, a sweet fruity chocolate with musty notes, cherry blossoms, coffee notes, and alcohol warmth.

Bottle [from trade with Boltz7555] shared with Joes, Dutchdrebus and Judyvv. Opaque pitch black color, medium to full sized brown head that lasts for a decent while and leaves fair lacing. Smell malts, roastyness, slightly burned, coffee, mocha. Taste malts, mocha, coffee, bitter, chocolate, roastyness. Really nice. Long lasting bitter aftertaste. Delicious.

Bottle from Whole Foods Henderson, NV
Black color with small brown head, creamy. Mild aroma of roasted malts, light chocolate, light rind of mountain cheese, very light smoke, elegant and complex. Full bodied, with very good chocolate flavor, smooth, rich, with nice compendium of roasted malts; very light vanilla; balanced bitterness.
Excellent example.

Bomber from Belmont Station. Pours very, very dark brown with a slight creamy dark tan head. Aroms is strongly chocolate and dark burnt malt. Med + body with creamy carb. There’s anise and treacle challenging the burnt malt. It seems a bit woody. Not a trace of heat. It’s somewhat dark fruit sweet, but it finishes on the dry and bitter side. Really amazing. Next day: I only got half thru it - so put in a stopper. Tonite I’m back on it - and I really think there’s a bacon aspect after 24 hrs or so.
