A Russian Imperial Stout is one of the most intensely flavored beers a brewer can create. The combination of rich roasted barley, oak, molasses and liquorice root combine to create an utterly unique and complex imperial stout.

Bottle from a trade with Gription79. Pours very dark brown color with brown head. Roasted malt and chocolate aromas, with hints of oak, licorice, and coffee. Bittersweet milk chocolate flavor with dark roasted malts and licorice. Slightly ashy and boozy. Full body with soft carbonation. Very nice. Thanks Dallas.

25 oz. bottle, enjoyed in the hot sun at Wreck Beach (a nudist beach!) - I wonder if an imperial stout has ever been drunk and rated on a hot day at a nudist beach? Pours black with a medium brown head. Aroma is very roasty, with loads of dry cocoa. Flavour follows exactly with beautiful roasted and dry qualities. Very complex, roasted and dry palate. ABV is extremely well-hidden. Awesome impy.

Bottle. Pours black with a dark chocolate brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma is full of roasted malts with a bit of a creamy dark chocolate backing and some dark grains. Flavor begins with strong roasted malts that is slightly mellowed by a dark chocolate note that is quite smooth.

On tap at Petrol Station. Pours a very dark brown with a creamy tan head with sticky lacing. The aroma is alcohol and chocolate. Thick mouthfeel with a bitter malt and chocolate. Alcohol present but not too overpowering. A good Imperial stout from Squatters.

Black with a dark brown head. Aroma is hefty and full of molasses, dark malts, herbal, chocolate, and booze, too. Thick body. Flavor has plenty of dark malts, molasses, cocoa, light roast, like smoke, and plenty of booze. Finish is nicely warm. Quite nice.

Thanks to adneilsen for sharing - typical Belgian/foreign stout character - overly carbonated, semi- abrasive mouthfeel - a great deal of black strap molasses in the flavor - a light bit of roast and a mild touch of estery character breaking through the sweetness - the finish is way too hot - some good flavors here, but it’s kind of rough.

Bottle shared at ACBS courtesy of Steptin. Cheers James! Opaque black beer, good thick tan head. Malty coffee nose. Light palate - soft and semi dry. Dark malt, splash of minerals. Lots of rich coffee - somewhat bitter. Mild alcohol heat in the finish which also reveals a trace of red fruit.
