--- Beer merged from original tick of Bok Bier on 15 May 2018 at 20:25 - Score: 5

[9/30/14] Bottle on a park bench in Amsterdam. Straight from the bottle. Aroma of malt, caramel, dark bread and toast. Sweet flavor, malty, caramelly and toasty, with a drier finish with a bit of bitterness and a bit of alcohol. Medium-bodied, over-carbonated.

Bottle. Brown mahogany with creamy beige head. Looks great. Grassy with some toasted grains and spices. Dades and raisins. Quite dry with light bitter finish. But bland but quite nice overall.

Bottle @ home. Dark red-brown color with a deep dark red glare coming through, medium to full sized off-white to beige head that lasts for quite a while. Aroma is malts, lightly sweet, caramel, a hint of brown sugar. Tastes the same: quite malty, quite some caramel, lightly sweet, brown sugar, a hint of leaves. Thin to average body and low to average carbonation. Meh.

Bottle from AH, BB 02-2016, large sample, served in a tulip glass. Clear amber to copper color, medium frothy light brown head. Soft aroma of caramel, bit earthy hop, slight roast, bit grassy, toast. Bit sweet in aroma, slight bitter. Medium to high carbonation, thin body. Quite watery and quite low on aroma. Dont know which old recipe they used, but was it one from during wartime? Seems they have rationed on ingredients.
