Draught at Meadhall on 7/27/16.
Beautiful, deep, magenta-tinged, dark violet body shows good clarity and a light beige, pink-flecked head showing moderate retention.
Blackberry is juicy and tart alongside moderate lactic character. Some lightly buttery oak and hints of vanilla and cream-like maltiness balance but don’t really dampen the brightness. Not a huge aroma, which was odd, like their other sours. Not really sure what’s dampening it, but there’s no flaw or alcohol.
Really nice blackberry and lactic mix, though it’s not too sour (quite tart and acidic on the end). There’s a honey-cream-like maltiness that brings forth more of the meatiness of the blackberries, as well as plentiful wood tannin softness and a very tight carbonation. Awesome stuff, favorite of their sours.
