Bottle shared by JTClockwork on 8/13/16.
Deep magenta-violet with some lighter maroon shades. Good clarity.
Rich, oaky, fruity nose boasts tons of grape juice including plentiful acidity. Seems rather punchy/young and could use some more softness, either from just more time or more honey apparency in the nose. Black pepper, wax/crayon, big oak and poignant, tart, juicy red grapes with little/no alcohol noted.
Flavor-wise, it’s the weakest of the bunch, for me. Rather tannic/woody/oaky and with the grapes coming across too out-of-sync with the rest of the beer. A bit sharp and grapey/punchy with moderate sweetness and a bit of dull, waxy character. Black pepper, vanilla and tart grape notes lingering with little/no alcohol.

Bottle from the Meadery, 1/22/16. Darker reddish orange in color. Oak and red wine, fairly sweet honey notes as well. Hazelnut notes. Fairly red wine-forward. Really nice overall, and I enjoyed it slightly more than the last time I sampled it.
