On tap at Fat Head's PDX, pours a deep dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma brings out espresso beans upfront and dominating, with a little roast. Flavour is exactly what you'd expect and hope for, with dark roasted espresso beans dominating, not a whole lot else to speak. Nicely constructed, with the bold coffee notes lingering. Very good.

Rated on 24.5.2016. Draught @ Fat Head’s, Portland, OR. Pours pitch black with a smooth head. Aroma of coffee beans, slightly roasty malts, chocolate and cocoa. Taste is super smooth with loads of coffee beans, hints of vanilla, cocoa, roastiness and chocolate. Finish is sweet, smooth and slightly roasty with some hints of syrup and loads of coffee. A bit too sweet.

Listed as an American stout at bowsers. Coffee brewed aroma. Not pitch black but it is as dark as lighter root beer. Quite strong on the uptake. Perhaps there is a little whiskey in my coffee. Not over the top like the imperial version. Not bad overall, I find it a tad more acceptable than the higher alky version. Touch of chocolate on the finish.

Sampled on draft at 3R6P this beer poured a black color with a large foamy beige head that lingered and left exceptional lacing. The aroma was strong ground coffee and cream. The flavor was fairly sweet coffee, vanilla cream and a bit of toasty malts. Very long sweet coffee and cream finish. Moderately full bodied. Quite nice.

Nitro sample at the brewpub, and a growler from the tower for home. The beer is a brownish-black color with a medium thick and foamy tan head that diminishes steadily. Rings of lacing on the glass. Roasted coffee and malt in the nose. Rich body with a strong coffee character along with flavors of dark chocolate and hops. The finish is moderately bitter roasted coffee that lingers awhile. The nitro version had a more muted coffee presence but both were good.

draft - Pours dark brown to black and smells of dark roast malt and obviously coffee. The flavor is sweet roasted malt and some good coffee with a little dryness in the finish of this medium to full bodied brew.
