We've used loads of hops from North America - Columbus, Centennial, Amarillo, Citra and Cascade - because we just love the bold aromas they bring to the beer. To balance out all this hoppy goodness we've added lots of Rye, plus some pale ale and cara malt

Bottle @ Clothiers Arms, Yeadon. Dark amber-red with a thin bubbly head. Caramel and spices in its nose with the former prevalent in its taste too which is fused with the rye. Very interesting ale.

330ml bottle at the Prince Arthur (JDW), Fleet. Reddish copper with a scummy lokking cream head; delicate floral aroma with some pine and caramel in the background; sweet with a rich grainy body; and well rounded with lots of grapefruit bitterness to finish. A good beer, and itโs good to see JDW embracing craft beers.

Bottle at home. Pours a clear mahogany colour with a very small head. Hoppy aroma with pine, grapefruit, caramel and some leather. The flavour is similar with more grassy hops, roasted malt, berries, pale malt and wood. Has a slick and silky mouth feel, and a balanced bitterness. An easy drinking ale with a nice touch of the rye. Maybe a bit careful aroma though.

Bottle at Pilgrims Progress (JDW), Bedford. Ruddy brown and a bit hazy. A reasonable amount of off-white head. Aroma is pine/spruce hop with caramel malt. This would be a 9 or a 10 aroma except for an odd plastic undertone. Taste is a sharp bittersweet that allows the sourness of the rye to do its thing without taking over the flavour profile. Bitter/sour aftertaste. A keeper.

Bottle Spoons. Some spicy malt on the aroma. More spiciness throughout. Lacks body for me seems a bit thin. Compared to the Lagunitas ipa before this the Adnams doesnโt stand up. Almost papery thin. Hmmmm.

330ml bottle from the Royal Hop Pole, Tewkesbury. Deep Amber brown colour with a creamy white head. Aroma has hops and the citrus and pine from them. Taste also has the crtrus and pine, but the rye adds another layer of flavour.
