From NYC Beer Week Opening Bash: pours black with beige head. Aroma is hefty chocolate milk, whiskey, vanilla. Taste is loads of chocolate and pastry. Notes of coffee and some bitterness.

From a 16 oz can. Pours black with a tan head. Aromas of dark chocolate and fudge. Flavors are sweet and bitter chocolate.

16oz can pours a viscous, oily black with some sudsy, soapy, beige head. Nose is interesting, heavy booze, heavy licorice, burnt caramel/brown sugar, burnt toast/malt. Flavor is oily with booze, vanillin and charcoal, chocolate is here in a syrupy format, malt, earthy too with soil and tree bark. Finishes oily, full bodied.

Pounder: Bourbon, dark chocolate, almond. Black, thin tan head. Bourbon, almond, charred oak. Medium body, easy carbonation, creamy. Quite bourbony, but good.

16 oz can poured into a tulip. Dark brownish black with quick fading light tan head. Aromas of whiskey, oak, some smoke and tobacco, a little chocolate. Tastes of whiskey, oak, some tobacco, dark chocolate, some roasty notes. Medium-full body with a dry finish. Not quite there but pretty good.
