Bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout with cacao nibs and vanilla beans
The reign of Black Tuesday was destined to grow with the creation of Chocolate Rain. This decidedly decadent version of our bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout was treated with TCHO cacao nibs and juicy, fresh vanilla beans. Rich in chocolate and vanilla, with hints of oak, it truly puts the “imperial” in imperial stout.

From 750ml bottle. Thanks Constantin! Black color with brown head. Malty aroma, roasted, chocolate, caramel, vanilla, dark dried fruits, raisins, figs, plums. Heavy sweet taste like aroma. Almost full body, silky with soft carbonation.

750 ml bottle. A nice swirly golden yellow wax on the bottle. Pours a jet black color with a initial medium white head that dies down to nothing. A big boozy nose, chocolate and vanilla. The initial flavor is all cocoa nibs, huge sweet chocolate, vanilla, boozy bourbon. Man, this is super hot. At times, it’s like drinking liquor. But the chocolate sort of saves the day. Boozy bourbon, very sweet. Hard to say here. This is awesome, and man it is fire in a bottle.

Bottle @ ZEBF 2015. Black pour. Aroma of strong chocolate and vanilla, nice. Taste is really rich and deep, with full creamy chocolate, vanilla and a gritty mouthfeel in the finish. Awesome.

At a tasting, thanks, smallish bubbly head, oily pour, opaque black color, alcohol spiraling out, aroma of cherries, vanila, toasted bread, fudge and very dark sugar, flavor of cherries, dried apricots and prunes with burned sugar, very sweet, lucks some bitterness.Very good, but a little too rich to my taste.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel Florentin. Thanks Stas & Vova. 2014 bottle, 18.5%. Black. Big aroma with chocolate, bourbon, vanilla and some booziness. Sweet flavor with lots of chocolate, bourbon, vanilla and some alcohol. Full-bodied. Great stuff. Gotta let it sit in the glass for the alcohol to mellow out a bit.

Bottle, Boise imperial stout tasting. Very dark brown, near black pour with a thin brown cap. Modest nose is sweet, vanilla and cocoa hints of bourbon. It’s boozy, but not in a bad way. Rich flavors of chocolate and vanilla. Sweet, but not cloying. Over the top at 19.5% ABV, but really really good for what it is. Many thanks to syndicate for sharing this.
