12/8/7/8/11/8

Sampled from bottle @ Danish Ratebeer Gathering 2016, Ulfborg, Day 2. Opaque pitch black color, no head. Aroma is ok: malts, sweetness, cognac barrel. Taste is pretty bad, malts, way too alcoholic, way too much chili peppery burn for me, undrinkable imo. Not good.

2012 vintage, red wax, bottle #786/817 - Pours pitch black with no head. Aroma of berries, roasty malts, molasses, spices, hints of wood, oak and hints of brandy. Taste is sweet, sticky and heavy with some soy sauce, spices, berries, ripe apples, brandy, wood, oak, molasses and syrup. Finish is sweet, heavy and syrupy with some hints of peppers, berries, wood and ripe apples. Quite heavy and sweet, not that much cognac here, but the chilies keep on warming nicely.

75 cl bottle vintage 2012 (red vax) @ home. Bottle 786/817. Thanks Jason!
Aroma has some salty licorice and mild spicy tones. Flavour has mild chili burn, licorice, some coffee and hints of rubbery tones. Also quite strong berry tones. Cognac is quite well hidden, it apperars as sweet stickiness in the finish. Chili notes get a bit stronger after some sips. Rather thin for a 15% ABV beer – and hides the ABV very well. Yet the alcohol does not disturb. Not bad and nothing disturbing here, but nothing special either.

Bottle shared with Phil and Jacob - Pours black tan head. Nose/taste of cognac, oak, hot chili pepper, compost, alpo dog food, soy sauce and molasses - full body. I usually love pepper imperial stouts. Not this one.

Bottle share @ Beer Temple, thanks to Chris Knight. Dark color, almost black. No head. Aroma’s: red/dark fruits, vegetal (from the chili). Chili’s, fruit, sweetness. Flavor is sweet, fruit, right before the heat takes over.... Hot/spicy mouth feel, but luckily it doesn’t linger too long. It still distracts from the flavor though, and I actually don’t get any cognac. Full bodied, thick.
