Bottle from Trader Joe’s in Davis, CA. Pours orange amber with a slight white head. Light floral/spice aroma. A little sweetish malt. Med body. Flavor is spicy and malty. Not bitter, but the spice helps a lot. Finishes spicy and not dry. Good.

12oz bottle poured into my Schlafly mini/tasting goblet from Hop in the City 2003, felt fancy tonight. Pours a clear dim/dull golden with a small head. Aroma is lightly soppy bread with some faintly sweet-dough yeast and a faint hop character. Sweetness is present. Mouthfeel is a bit thicker with average carbonation. Flavor is similarly sweet-dough yeast with a fruity lager yeast character. Long lager yeast aftertaste. Not too clean all around but no heavy flaws. Again sweetness is the major out of place factor. But for me its very doable. For a $6 sixer of fresh golden bock, its more than doable.

bottle from Trader Joe’s Charlottesville, Heller Bock label, opened 11/27/13. Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a medium sized frothy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of toasted caramel malts, floral hops and a very mild buttery note. The taste is toasted malts, caramel, a bit of tea and a mild hoppy finish. Medium bodied, decent balance, moderate carbonation, refreshing.
