Keg at the brewpub, Nov 2019. Pours dark red to amber with a beige cap. Aroma: subtle smoked malts, tobacco, caramel, dried fruit. Taste: light to moderate sweet & light bitter, bread, more prominent smoked character, earthy. Medium body with soft carbonation.

Listed as 8% on my vanilla brown can. Slight smoke on nose. Pour is darker amber with a creamy 1 inch head. Initial taste is stronger personality, yes the alky is coming thru. In the middle the beer comes across more like a strong ale than a smoked. After a while, the smoked sensation does begin to build in the back of the throat. Yes, finishes with a medicinal smoked lasting ending. Different for sure.

Sampled on draft at the brewpub this beer poured a dark caramel-brown color with a large foamy-creamy orange-white head that left incredible lacing. The aroma was faint but had hints of smoke and hickory. The flavor was woody, a hint smoky, a bit toasty and had a bread crust note. Long finish with lingering smoke and wood. Medium body. Meh.

Sample at Kraft House No. 5. The beer is a dark brown color with some amber around the edges, and a medium foamy tan head that recedes steadily to a film. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Smokey aroma with some malt and tobacco notes. Medium-bodied with flavors of smoked malt, dark chocolate and a bit of leather. The finish is roasty with a charred malt aftertaste. Above average overall.
