A Munich Helles Lager w/ Cherrywood smoked malt. Light malt body w/ a touch of honey character. Smoke is subdued yet adds a pleasant character to the finish and comes across as honeyed BBQ (versus bacon).

Draught at Brendan Behanβs while I was dressed up as a woman, Halloween 2016.
Clear, brilliant maize-golden body is topped by an off-white head showing modest retention.
Honey, apple, sourdough and glazed pork in the nose delight. Nothing intense or iodine rich here and even the usual strong black pepper phenols of smoked lagers are pretty relaxed here. It allows the malt to shine forth, adding rich honey and vanilla. Herbal, grassy and lightly bitter hops balance gently with no flaw or alcohol.
Very malty, but with good attenuation, the smoke is indeed not meaty and coated by layers of honey-like maltiness with vanilla notes as well. Grains and lightly bitter herbs balance the finish which is surprisingly crisp. Very easy drinking and a nice innovative taked on a smoked helles.
