The Citra Saison is Brew By Numbers' modern interpretation of a Belgian farmhouse classic. The hops balance the yeast character while a light spicing adds complexity.

From 33cl bottle at La Cantinetta, Rimini, Italy. Pours rather pale yellow with medium-high white foam, evanescent and fine. Aroma is lemon peel, spiced. Body is average with good carbonation. Taste is very moderate sweet, nice bitterness, some tanginess. Finish is short enough.

0,33l bottle at home. Bottled 03/10/2016. BB 03/04/2018. light yellow lightly hazy color, medium big white head. smells spices, peppery, flowery, bit citric, lightly grassy. nice smell. medium body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes grassy, citric, bit breadish, lightly earthy, flowery, herbal, thyme, hints of sweetness. finishes with a light bitterness and notes of earth, flower and some herbal notes. rather nice one, quite good to drink, a bit too much on the grassy / herbal bitter side, but overall still very enjoyable.

Bottle picked up from Wine Rack at Yarnton Nurseries, Yarnton, Oxon, consumed at home cooking, a lamb curry as well as Lemon Meringue Ice Cream. Sunday 25th June 2017. Pours hazy lemony colour, quite cloudy with a white head. A good Saison, light, soft, the hops present themselves but fit in well, light lemon, nice touch of spicy yeast. Really enjoying this. On tap @ Uiltje Craft Beer Bar, Haarlem Hazy light golden with a white head. Citrus aroma, not a lot of funky barnyard flavours but a light floral touch is noticable. Medium bitterness. Very light fresh saison.

Hazy, pale, yellow, thick white head. Grassy, citrusy smell. Flavour is classic Citra - dry, bitter grapefruit, just a hint of sweetness- with the spicy, floral qualities of a saison. A nice balance. Crisp, but it could go one of the flavours being a bit more dominant.

Bottle from Bishop’s Cave, Bishop’s Stortford. Light to mid-gold, hazy, a bit of white head. Smell is intensely yeasty with some potpourri and more than a hint of posset. Tastes of sweetining spices - I’m reminded of ham overstuffed with clove - and sugary yeast. Nicely carbonated mouthfeel. Not really my cup.of tea.
