The strong espresso character comes from the addition of espresso beans to the boil.
Notes of vanilla, dark fruit , cocao and chocolate.
The very unusual character of Hitachino Nest Espresso Stout stems from the fact that Kiuchi Brewery is using the recipe of a Russian Imperial Stout as base.
Pitch black color, big brown head. Aromas of chocolate, roasted bitterness, black currants, dark fruits.
Hop: Chinook, Kent Golding

Black beer, good beige head. Smells of dark chocolate and liquorice. Lively, but rich. Dark chocolate, bitter coffee, a little anise. It's not a complex stout but it's a lovely rich stout.

Black pour with a fine beige head. Good lacing also. Looks nice and inviting. Pleasant intensity in the aroma. Also a fine mellow carbonation level. Pleasant mouth feeling. Balanced sweetness. Dark malt, roast, chocolate, espresso and toffee in the flavor. Ok complexity. [Bottle from Mjorud]

Pretty good beer not quite great or exceptional but a pretty solid beer. Aromas are dark malt coffee roast and a bit of black patent. Flavors are like nose bittersweet hint of molasses perhaps just a bit too crisp from the carbonation. And a little bit of medicinal in the Finish.
