Caramel, roasted, black and chocolate malts provide an explosion of coffee like flavors.

The strong espresso character comes from the addition of espresso beans to the boil.

Notes of vanilla, dark fruit , cocao and chocolate.

The very unusual character of Hitachino Nest Espresso Stout stems from the fact that Kiuchi Brewery is using the recipe of a Russian Imperial Stout as base.

Pitch black color, big brown head. Aromas of chocolate, roasted bitterness, black currants, dark fruits.

Hop: Chinook, Kent Golding

Malt: Pale, Crystal, Black, Chocolate
Others: Roasted Barley, Coffee beans
SRM: 100

Pretty good beer not quite great or exceptional but a pretty solid beer. Aromas are dark malt coffee roast and a bit of black patent. Flavors are like nose bittersweet hint of molasses perhaps just a bit too crisp from the carbonation. And a little bit of medicinal in the Finish.

33cl Bottle, tfs Harmen! Black colour, beige head. Aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, coffee and cream, more of a classic UK stout smell, some dark fruits. Flavour is light to medium sweet, roasted malts, espresso well integrated, light fruity, nutty, caramel, bitter finish. Medium bodied. Tasty stout.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 30A/15C). Bottle 33 cl - Batch ES.18.02 (BBF 08.2019). AROMA: medium-high coffee and faint cocoa presence. APPEARANCE: very dark to black color with ruby highlights. medium light brown head, creamy, with good retention. slight leg formation. TASTE: similar to the aroma with medium-high coffee flavor. faint roasted malt background with notes of cocoa and vanilla-like. medium-high bitterness with a dry and bitter finish. PALATE: medium body with medium carbonation. OVERALL: an unbalanced stout brewed with coffee beans.

Bottle at Kiuchi brewery, Naka, Ibaraki, Japan. A black coloured pour with a thin beige head on top. Roasty, malty, chocolate, espresso coffee on the nose. Tastes similar, rich espresso, roasty, malty, chocolate, slightly bitter. Nice one and probably the best beer of the trip.

Bottle, thanks for bringing rating #8000 Jan! Black, creamy brown head. Light oxidized coffee aroma, strong roasted, soy sauce, fruits. Medium full, mellow body. Light chili/spice entry, licorice, dark chocolate, great coffee profile on the palate. Dry coffee finish. Really deserves the Espresso on the label.
