Peaty malt nose. Clear ruby brown, thin creamy tan head. Sweet malt, mild, very subtle hints of elderberry and peat. Medium body, soft creamy mouthfeel. Sessionable.

Bottle. Color is medium brown in my Leibinger stange. Palate is better than those widget nitros in a can. Exceptionally smooth, almost to a fault. Goes down way too easy. Its hard for me to get used to a flat beer but this is one of the better bottle/can nitro brews I’ve had. Interesting take on a scotty. A little odd in the finish with its flatness & shit, but its not bad.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Mild smoke aroma. Soft nody, undercarbonated, lean and a bit oily, no malt to talk about, light fruity esters, very low bitterness.
Quite useless.

Pour is a brown with red highlights with a small tan head. This did not pour very nitro. Aroma is a nice dark fruit with molasses and brown sugar. Flavor is a dark earthy malt with some cherry juice. Kind of thin bodied but this was a decent malty beer. Again, not much of the nitro aspects came out after the pour but that’s ok as the flavor made up for it.

Bottle. Nutty toffee malt and fresh hay aroma. Dark brown with moderate light tan head. Moderately sweet nutty/smoky toffee malt and moderately bitter herbal hay flavor. Okay body. Decent.

Bottle - creamy Scottish ale on nitro. Decent beer overall, a style I’m quite fond of.

On tap at St. Augustine during 1500 menu event with Alex. Pouts a clear pale golden with a white head. Aroma is malty with some flowery notes. Same taste. Quite similar to lagers, but more soft (due to nitro?). Not bad stuff.

12 ounce bottle into signature pint glass, best before 8/19/2017. Pours fairly crystal clear deep ruby red/brownish color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky light khaki head with fantastic retention, that reduces to nice cap that lasts the whole glass. Thick soapy lacing clings down the glass. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, and nuttiness; with lighter notes of roast, dark fruit, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready/light roasted malts and light earthy hop/fruity yeast notes; with solid strength. Taste of caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, and nuttiness; with lighter notes of roast, dark fruit, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/spicy hop and roast bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, light roast, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready/light roasted malts and light earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Slight dryness from lingering bitterness, lightly increasing through the glass. Low carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy/silky, and slightly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.5%. Overall this is a very nice Scottish ale. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready/light roasted malts and light earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; very smooth, clean, and easy to drink. Nice clean malt showcase, with well restrained yeast/hop notes. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.
