Inspired by the great ales of Flanders, we embraced a modern approach to create Magnus, our vision of a sour, red ale. Initially soured and fermented in stainless, we then matured the beer in oak barrels. Wild yeasts produce rich notes of berries and fruit that cascade over flavors of soft malt and a bright acidity.
Meaning “great” in Latin, we named this beer Magnus in honor of a great dog companion.

Bottle shared in NH - picked up in ME. Pours unclear red with a small, foamy, off-white head. Nicely acidic, with lots of tart berries, a little salt. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Clean tart finish, quenching, aged berries, nice lactic bite. Solid.
